Searching for Courses
To narrow your search, you may do any of the following:

  After 5 PM Click the After 5 PM button to display courses that are held after 5 PM.  
  Off Campus Click the Off Campus button to display courses that are held off campus.  
  Off Campus Click the Study Abroad button to display courses that are held outside the United States.  
  Off Campus Click the Building Search button to display courses that are held in a building.  
  Off Campus Click the Honors button to display Honors courses and sections.  
  Online & Hybrid Click the Online & Hybrid button to display Online & Hybrid courses.  
  Special Sessions Click the Special Sessions button to display all classes that do not meet the full semester.  
  Kellogg Biological Station Click the KBS button to display Kellogg Biological Station courses.  
  MSU Dubai Click the Dubai button to display the MSU Dubai Schedule of Courses  
 
Course Numbers
You may enter the exact course number you are looking for, such as 151. You may include * as a wild card character to select several courses. For example 1* will select all 100 level courses, 1*h will select all 100 level honors courses. Entering just a * will select all courses for the requested subject and may result in long delays while the pages are returned to you.
The course number reflects the expected level of educational attainment of the students for whom the course was designed. This guide should be used by prospective students to determine the appropriateness of a given course for their particular level of education.
 
  100-299 Courses designed for first- and second-year undergraduates  
  300-499

Courses for advanced undergraduate students. They constitute the advanced portion of an undergraduate program leading to the bachelor's degree. A graduate student may carry 400-level courses for credit upon approval of the student's major department or school. In exceptional cases, a graduate student may petition the dean of his or her college, in writing, for approval of a 300-level course for graduate credit.

Section Numbers
The section number characterizes the general location where a section of a course is being offered. This guide should be used by prospective students to determine which section of a course is most appropriate for enrollment, given its location in Michigan and the world.

Instructor
You may enter part or all of the instructors last name to only display courses taught by that instructor. To display courses taught by any instructor, enter ANY.
 
Specific Class Times
You may select a range of class times from the start and end time drop-down lists.
 
Specific Class Days
You may include or exclude specific days by putting a checkmark next to the appropriate day.
 
Open/All/Honors Sections
Display only open sections, all sections, or honors sections.
 
Class Location
You may include or exclude specific locations, buy putting a checkmark next to On Campus, Off Campus, Online Courses, or Study Abroad.
 
 
Schedule Planner Instructions
Important!
The planner is only a tool that can be used to plan your schedule. You must go to the Enrollment System to enroll for classes.

To use the planner you must login using your MSU NetID and Password:

Add a Course to your Planner
To add a section of a course to your planner you must click on the icon to the left of the section number. 

AddCourse
There are three icons used in the schedule of courses.  When clicked, each icon will add the section to your planner, regardless of section status. However, each icon has a specific meaning:
Open Section There are open seats in the section.
Closed Section The section is closed.
Restricted Section The section requires departmental approval for enrollment.
 
Schedule a Non-Course Entry in your Planner:
To schedule a non-course entry in your planner, click on Add Schedule Entry on the Schedule Planner page.

Enter a Name or short description for the entry (Entry Name), select the Semester, indicate the Start Time and End Time, and check the Day(s) of the Week on which the entry should appear. When finished, click the Submit Entry button.

Example of a Complete Planner and Visual Planner
The Complete Planner will display all courses added to the planner and their section detail.  It will also list any non-course entries.  To Delete an Entry on your planner, click the “X”, in the Delete column.

The Visual Planner is a graphical representation of your planned schedule between 8 am and 10 pm.  If your planned schedule has a time conflict, it will be indicated with a red asterisk “*”.
