Description
Course is intended as an overview of theories in media and information. This course does not intend to provide an overview of the universe of theories in the field, but does provide an overview of some theories that are commonly used across the three departments that make up the IM PhD program, as well as theories that are more often unique to the focus of individual departments. This includes an overview of the relations between information theory, communication theory, and media theory, and an understanding of how these theories have evolved over time and which competing approaches coexist
