Description
Introduces students to the fundamentals of Addiction Medicine. The course aims to increase knowledge, basics of diagnosis, medical care, and awareness of substance use disorders and of persons with substance use disorders and substance-related health conditions. Included is overviews of the pharmacology and subsequent changes in neurobiology for multiple substances that are frequently misused, as well as symptoms of intoxication and withdraw from these substances. Overview of medication for opioid use disorders, safer medication prescribing and prevention and treatment.
